Patricia "Pat' Frank Cantu, beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great- grandma went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2023, at the age of 85. Mrs. Cantu will lie in repose beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Tres Hewell Mortuary with the family receiving family/friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A rosary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. A luncheon will be held at the Catholic Daughters House following mass.
A procession will depart St. James Catholic Church promptly at 12:15 p.m. for graveside services and interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Cantu, William Valdez, James Valdez, Eric Fryer, Thomas Fryer, Gregory Fryer, Jason New, Anthony Miller, and Anthony Todd.
Pat was born on August 10, 1938, in Houston, Texas to Antonio P. and Alice (Duffy) Frank. She was married to the love of her life, Anthony Cantu for 52 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. The focus of her life has always been her faith and family. Her sweet, gentle soul touched everyone she encountered. Among some of Pat's many joys were gardening, ceramics, making jewelry, gambling, and traveling.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, four brothers, and six sisters.
Survivors include her siblings, Shirley Bordovsky (John) and Raymond Frank; daughters, Donna Fryer (Bryan), Cheryle New (Phillip), Linda Kay (Augie), Sandra Valdez (Alex), and Tricia Cantu; grandchildren: Eric Fryer (Tiffany), Gregory Fryer (Mindy), Thomas Fryer (Keri), Jason New (Ashley), Alicia Cook (Scotty), Lyndsay Guthrie (Ryan), Chrissy Kay, Anthony Miller (Daphne), Anthony Todd (Jessica), Adrianne Huband (Daniel), William Valdez (Kennah), James Valdez (Bethany), Alexis Valdez, Stephanie Woodlee (Justin), and Keith Cantu; great grandchildren: Kendall, Brody and Clayton Fryer, Addison and Grant Fryer, Wade and Ty Fryer, Parker and Travis New, Klayre and Weston Cook, Cannon, Kase and Denver Guthrie, Tyler (Norma), Kayla, Zachary, Brittany (Blane) and Myah (Javi) Lara, Noah Soukup, Jaydin, Taylor and Kinsley Miller, Carson, Mollie and Connor Todd, Hayden Huband, Lainey Valdez, Emmalyn Valdez, Tanner and Nayton Woodlee; great-great-grandchildren: Esme, Alexander and Isabella Lara; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends.
