Patsy Ruth Koonce Bates, age 81 of Seguin, passed away on March 19, 2018. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date at the Swift Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Patsy was born on May 2, 1936 in Nacogdoches Texas to Emmett and Oleta (Hamilton) Koonce. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cherrie Higgins, her parents and her brothers, John Morris Koonce and James Benny Koonce. Survivors include her children, Carole Ann Randolph and husband Ernie, Melton Lynn Bates and wife Kathy, Richard Dale Bates and wife Dani, Karen Sue Chapin and husband Bruce, Pamela Denise Dwyer and husband Tim, and Thomas Kent Bates and wife Toni; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Koonce and wife Sara; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. The family would like to give everyone who provided care for Patsy their utmost gratitude.
