Obituary

Paul Stollewerk, age 92, a lifetime resident of Guadalupe County, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2016.
Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Tuesday, August 9 from 5 pm-7 pm. Funeral service will be held at Emanuel's Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 10 at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. John Schwartz officiating, with interment following at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
Paul was born on April 10, 1924 in Guadalupe County to Eugene and Malinda Stollewerk. He leaves to cherish his memory, Norma his wife of 71 years, daugher Judy Stollewerk of Seguin, son Dale Stollewerk of Seguin, daughter Fern Broussard and husband, John of Austin, grandchildren Jackson Broussard, Matt Broussard, Abby Coonrod and husband, Kenneth all of Austin, Jenna Beason and husband Kent of Tyler, Ryan Stollewerk and wife Tracy of New Braunfels, and Kelsey Laird and husband Sean of Euless . Paul was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren, Parker Beason (and little sister on the way), Holland Hargrove-Broussard, and Coleman Stollewerk. Surviving sisters include Lillian Mondin of Seguin and Elaine Krueger of Sarasota, FL. Also sister-in-law, Evelyn Carley and husband Bob, and sister-in-law, Laura Mae Carley all of Seguin, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Paul served during World War II in both the Army and Air Corp from 1941-1945 with training as a rear gunner in the B17. He was a Volunteer Fireman in Seguin for 35 years and enjoyed the annual competition of fire truck "pumper hose races" against other fire departments in the area. Paul spent over 35 years employed with Texas Acidizers working on oil and water wells around Central Texas and retired at the age of 64. Following retirement, Paul was able to spend time doing what he loved most, working in his woodshop. He was a talented carpenter and spent many wonderful hours at his scroll saw, making many beautiful pieces that will be cherished by all. Serving as pallbearers will be Jackson Broussard, Matt Broussard, Kenneth Coonrod, Ryan Stollewerk, Kent Beason and Sean Laird.
