Paul Melvin Wiseman, age 81 of La Vernia, Texas, the son of Carl Paul Wiseman and Rose Mae (Harmon) Wiseman was born July 1, 1932 at Sigourney, Iowa and died on January 6, 2014 at his home in La Vernia. On August 3, 1959, he married Yun Cha (Kim) Wiseman in Seoul, Korea. Three children blessed this union, Paul, Paula, and Daryl. He is a retired U.S Army soldier and his assignments included Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, Ft. Polk, Louisiana, Ft. Riley, Kansas, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona and Yongsan, Korea. He was multi-talented holding several different military occupational series designations. In civilian life, welder/blacksmith became his chosen vocation. The qualities garnered during his military service - patriotism, selfless service, empathy, compassion --continued on in civilian life. In his pastime, he enjoyed gardening and would freely share the fruits of his labor with relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Earl and sister Jean. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Yun Cha Wiseman, three children, Paul Wiseman and wife Marlene of Land O'Lakes, Florida; Paula and husband Anthony Passione of La Vernia, Texas and Daryl Wiseman of Seguin, Texas; two brothers Dean and Gary both of San Antonio, Texas; four grandsons: Aaron, Kyle, Joshua, and Cody; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
