Obituary

Peggy Ann Donaldson Laing, age 81 of Seguin, passed away on June 17, 2014. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Dugger Cemetery followed by a memorial service celebrating Peggy's life at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Welborn, Rev. Jeremy Roy and Rev. Jack R. Shelton officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Peggy was born on December 19, 1932 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Clifford and Retta (Hicks) Donaldson. Peggy will be remembered as a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Formerly of Georgetown, Peggy was active in the community including having served as the President of the Georgetown Historical Society. She was a retired schoolteacher whom touched the lives of many students in the Georgetown Independent School District. In Seguin she was a longtime member of the PEO, Silver Needlers at the Silver Center and the Sharers Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Seguin. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Donald and John Donaldson and her sister Sally Jane Donaldson. Survivors include her husband Charles Edward Laing, Sr.; children, Charles E. Laing, Jr. and wife Diana, Mary Elizabeth Springs and husband Wayne; and Nicole Balderas; grandchildren, Chelsea Elizabeth Laing, Charles Edward Laing, III, Elizabeth Faye Springs, Grace Ann Springs, Madison Nicole Springs and Calista Elizabeth Hardeman; brother, James W. Donaldson; sister, Patty Lou Kramer; longtime friend and former college roommate, Mary Beth McCain and husband Jack; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Blayne Hardeman, Adam Cain, Bobby Cain, Bill Corbett, Jack P. McCain, Jr., Jack P. McCain, III, Curtis Vick and Jim Price. The family would like to thank Drs. Frets, Casey and Banks and the entire staff of Guadalupe Regional Medical Center for their loving care of Peggy. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the charity of one's choice.
