Obituary

Rayburn Frank Stavinoha, aged 78, of Seguin, passed away on September 23, 2023. Born on December 6, 1944, in Wharton, Texas, he was the beloved child of Celestina Antonia (Derrich) and Ladislav  "Laddie" Robert Stavinoha. Rayburn graduated with the Class of 1963 from East Bernard High School and later, in 1968, he proudly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin.

Rayburn's unwavering commitment to his country led him to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a co-founder and served as the president of Sentry Polymers. It was during a summer road construction job working for his Uncle Edwin Derrich that he met the love of his life, Coy Lynn Reed, who was employed at Cain's café in Matagorda. Their love story blossomed into a family of six, as they welcomed four children, Clinton, Keith, Courtney, and Timothy, into their lives. An honorary daughter, Tracey, also became an integral part of their family.

Rayburn had a passion for gardening, camping, Texas Longhorn sports, and carpentry. Recently, he completed his final carpentry project, a backyard shed. However, his greatest joy in his later years came from his cherished role as a grandfather. Being called "Papa" or "Pops" by his grandchildren filled his heart with immeasurable happiness.

Rayburn is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Coy Lynn Reed Stavinoha; his sons Clinton (Amy), Keith (Andrea Waun), Timothy (Megan); his daughters, Courtney (John "JW" Woodall) and Tracey Masters; and his beloved grandchildren, Ashton Marlar, Cade Stavinoha, Emma Wieczkowski, Sara Wieczkowski, Alyssa Masters, Isla Stavinoha, and the expected arrival of Bodi Stavinoha (grandson on the way). He is also survived by his brother, Donald Stavinoha (Mildred Stavinoha); in-laws JB and Connie Roberson, and Matt Reed; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other cherished family members, and countless friends.

Rayburn's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire us all.
