Seguin, Texas
Rebecca lived a life rooted in unwavering faith, deeply held convictions, and a genuine love for the people and communities that shaped her journey.
Rebecca Ruth Broughton passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026, in Seguin, Texas, surrounded by the love and comfort of those she held most dear. Born on July 10, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Rebecca lived a life rooted in unwavering faith, deeply held convictions, and a genuine love for the people and communities that shaped her journey. Her passing leaves a profound absence in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her memory remains a lasting testament to a life lived with purpose, strength, and devotion.
A woman of steadfast Christian faith, Rebecca placed her trust in the Lord and allowed her beliefs to guide her throughout life's many seasons. Her faith was more than a cherished part of her life; it was the foundation upon which she built her values, nurtured her relationships, and faced both life's blessings and its challenges. She carried her convictions with sincerity and remained devoted to the principles she held close to her heart.
Rebecca possessed a spirited personality and found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She especially enjoyed shopping, never passing up the opportunity to discover a good sale at Funky Monkey or spend time exploring the treasures and lively atmosphere of local trade days. These outings were more than favorite pastimes; they reflected her appreciation for life's little joys, her enthusiasm for a good find, and the pleasure she took in connecting with others.
Proud of her Cherokee heritage, Rebecca cherished her citizenship in the Cherokee Nation and the rich history and traditions it represented. She was equally passionate about her involvement in the community, serving as an active and dedicated member of the Guadalupe County Republican Party. Her participation reflected her strong sense of civic responsibility, her willingness to stand firmly in her beliefs, and her desire to contribute to the causes she considered meaningful. Whether through her faith, her heritage, or her community involvement, Rebecca approached the things that mattered to her with conviction and wholehearted dedication.
Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her values, nurtured her relationships, and faced both life's blessings and its challenges.
Above all, Rebecca's greatest legacy is found in the love she shared and the relationships she held dear. She understood that the true measure of a life is not found in the passing of years, but in the memories created, the lives touched, and the love that remains long after a final farewell.
Rebecca leaves behind her beloved husband, Don Slocum, and her father-in-law, Karel Clettenberg I, who, along with those fortunate enough to have known her, will continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Karel Clettenberg III, whose memory remained an enduring and treasured part of her heart. Though separated by death, the bond between a mother and her child is one that time can never diminish.
As family and friends reflect upon Rebecca's life, may they find comfort in the moments shared, the laughter remembered, and the faith that sustained her. While her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave and the memories she leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of those who loved her.
She especially enjoyed shopping, never passing up the opportunity to discover a good sale at Funky Monkey or spend time exploring the treasures and lively atmosphere of local trade days.
May she now find eternal peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, where earthly sorrow gives way to everlasting joy, and where the promise of a heavenly reunion brings comfort to those she leaves behind. A Celebration of Rebecca’s Life is being planned for a later date to honor her memory. Please check back here for updates as arrangements are finalized.
