Rebecca "Becky" Jones Turberville, age 78 of Seguin, Texas passed away on December 5, 2023. Becky was born on February 6, 1945, in Laredo, Texas, to Jessie Mae (Askew) and Samuel Upton Jones.
Becky graduated from Calallen High School in 1963 then attended college at Del Mar and Texas Women University in Denton. After college, her career focused on banking. She started as a teller at Seguin Bank and Trust, then moved on to Citizen State Bank & then the International Bank of Commerce in Corpus Christi. She worked her way up from teller to head bookkeeper. After that, she worked at Freer Bank, Austin Bank of Commerce, and finally First Federal Savings and Loan for twelve years. Her career path took her in a different direction, leading her to work with preschool children as a teacher's aide at Oak Hill Methodist Church in Austin and then First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. Becky had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Becky loved socializing. She had a knack for connecting with others and always made everyone feel special. Her family, dogs, and attending sporting events brought her so much joy.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Carol Gottlich, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Velma Prudence (Ricketson) and Sibley Holmes Turberville.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Gary Neil Turberville; daughter, Kelly Ann Schmitz and husband Jeffrey; granddaughters, Lauren Rebecca Donahue, Braeden Diane Donahue, Carsen Ann Donahue, and Brooke Avery Schmitz; brothers-in-law, Bink Gottlich, and Ashley Turberville and wife Mary; sister-in-law, Jo Hastings and husband Bobby; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members, and friends.
Visitation will begin on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Akin, Brutus Auten, Tom Hancock, Hunter Hewell, Steve Gonzales, Rob Gottlich, Todd Gottlich, Roger Richie, Josh Taylor, Scott Taylor, and Rick Wright.
