Refugio Lopez Jr., age 71 of Seguin, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous fight with cancer on Thursday, June 14th, 2018. He was born on May 2, 1947 in Pandora, Texas. Refugio is preceded in death by his mother Nicolasa Vela Lopez, father Refugio Lopez, sisters Antonia Arias and Pauline Martinez (Gilbert), and brother in law Emilio Casanova. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Julia Lopez who was the love of his life, his sons Refugio Lopez III (Martina) and David Lopez, his grandchildren Jessica Lopez-Grantham (Amanda), Refugio "TJ" Lopez IV, David Lopez Jr, Charley Lopez, Sydney Lopez, Liam Lopez, his sisters Dora Gutierrez (Jimmy), Sally Villarreal (Pete), Nikki Spicer (Terry), Kathy Vega (Joe), Cary Washum (Troy), brother-in-law Eddie Casanova (Elida), sisters-in-law, Maryann Barrera (Joe), Corina Salinas (Silo), Elia Garza, Excie Balderas and several other adoring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved spending all the time he could with his family especially his adorable grandchildren; he was a lover of western movies, enthusiastic yardman, and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was first and foremost an adoring husband, exceptional father and grandfather, and a respectable, hard-working truck driver motivated by his love for God. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery between Stockdale and Pandora, Texas. Pallbearers will be Refugio "TJ" Lopez IV, David Lopez Jr, Jesse Arias, Gregorio Gutierrez, Daniel Vega, Terry Spicer, and honorary pallbearer Liam Lopez.
