The Reverend Ernest "Ernie" Schwehm III, formerly of Newark, Ohio, age 78, passed away at home Tuesday June 14, 2011. He was born in 1932 in Germantown, PA to Ernest Schwehm Jr. and Marie Geilfuss Schwehm. He was a 1950 graduate of Jenkintown High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He attended Central College in Pella, IA and completed seminary training at New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1971 becoming an ordained minister in the Reformed Church of America. In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly (Mossman), he is survived by two sons, Eric (Jerie Anne) of Troy, NC; Karl (Teresa) of Garden Ridge, TX; two daughters, Gretchen Abruzzo (John) of Oswego, IL; Konni Stufflebeam (Jeff) of Phoenix, AZ. He was a loving grandfather to Joseph Schwehm, Ashley Schwehm, Evan Stufflebeam, Tara and Lauren Schwehm. Rev. Schwehm cherished serving at four churches throughout his life. For the last seven years he fervently served as Parish Associate for First Presbyterian Church, Newark, Ohio. He was also an aviation and railroad enthusiast. Ernie was a loving supporter, encourager, and genuine friend to all. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at First Presbyterian Church, Newark, Ohio.
