Rhonda Jo Taylor Govett Cathey entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, following a lengthy illness. She was born on February 13, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to Marvin Eugene Taylor and Ila Faye Gafford Taylor. Rhonda lived in many places while growing up as her father served in the United States Coast Guard. She was a graduate of Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas. Rhonda worked as an LVN at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin for 28 years and had recently retired from there. She is survived by her husband, Scott, and her daughter, Paula Renee Sullivan Smith (Dan) and their two children. Also surviving her are her mother, Ila Faye Gafford Taylor Levasseur; sister, Donna Taylor (Luis); in-laws, James and Ethel Cathey; and numerous other family members and friends. Rhonda was particularly fond of her dogs, Teddy and Pugsly. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin E. Taylor, brother, Ronald Steven Taylor, and husband, Reginald "Windy" Govett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingsbury Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
