Obituary

Richard "Dick" Bedford, age 76 of Seguin, passed away on July 1, 2010. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 11 a.m.to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Darlene Boaz officiating. Masonic rites under the auspices of both Guadalupe Lodge #109 A.F. & A.M. and Kingsbury Masonic Lodge # 887 A.F. & A.M. will be held. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Dick was born on August 23, 1933 in Wapello, Iowa to Charles Alfred and Cathryn Marie Jones Bedford. He proudly served his country by serving in the United States Army. He was a member of both the Guadalupe Lodge #109 A.F. & A.M. and Kingsbury Masonic Lodge #887 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #555. He and his father owned and operated the first Dairy Cream on West Kingsbury in Seguin. Dick also retired from SMI now known as CMC Steel. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lenda Harkins Bedford; son, Roger Bedford; daughter, Robin Bedford; grandchildren, Denise Aleman and fiancé Brian Lyssy, Cassandra Aleman, Rachel Bedford and David Bedford; great-grandchildren, Allison, Aiden and Jade; brothers-in-law, Jack Harkins and wife Fanny, Billy Harkins and wife Ebbie and Tommy Harkins and wife Linda; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Lyssy, Roland Weyman, Michael Maine, Robert Steffens, David Bedford and Ed McLeod. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Guelker and Jimmy Maxwell. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who have lovingly cared for Dick these past months. Memorial contributions may be made to Kingsbury United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 34, Kingsbury, Texas 78638 or to the Kingsbury Masonic Lodge #887A.F. & A.M., P. O. Box 181, Kingsbury, Texas, 78638.
