Richard D. Harvey, age 65 of Seguin, passed away on May 25, 2011. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The Country Church in Marion with Pastor Butch Ikels and Pastor Neil Kibbe officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harvey Cemetery in Broaddus, Texas. Richard was born on November 12, 1945 in Bay City, Texas to Henry Ervie Harvey, Sr. and Ethel Lucille Mott Harvey. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Janice Harvey, to whom he was married for almost 40 years; daughter, Melanie Wolf and husband Mike; son, Darrell Harvey and wife Jenny; grandchildren, Victoria, Jacob, Julia, Logan and Samuel Wolf and Solomon and Carolyne Harvey; brother, Henry (Ervie) Harvey, Jr.; sister, Brenda Gail Benes and husband James; brothers-in-law, Vaughan Gray and wife Jill and Philip Gray and wife Irene; sister-in-law, Kathy Fouts; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members. Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the young age of 8. He enjoyed sharing the Good News of Salvation to everyone whom he encountered. Richard lived in several different countries and states while serving in the USAF for over 20 years. He served as a Deacon in the churches of which he was a member during that time. He also was a Youth Director and Sunday school teacher for many years. After retiring from the military, Richard worked for Guadalupe County for 9 years, then Green Gate Nursery before retiring. He was a Master Gardner and enjoyed gardening with his grandchildren. His favorite hobby was fishing and his best catches were the souls of men. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Country Church Library or the Attic at the Country Church or charity of one's choice.
