Obituary

Richard E. Jamison, age 93 of Seguin, passed away on September 25, 2013. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ in Geronimo with Interim Pastor Peter Nichols officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lone Oak Cemetery. Richard was born on January 26, 1920 in Burlington Iowa to Fred and Grace Smith Jamison. He grew up in North Dakota and Minnesota. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Via mail he became engaged to his high school sweetheart Leone Serum. After their marriage they made their home on a farm in Ada, Minnesota where he served as County Commissioner in Norman County Minnesota. Richard and Leone retired to Seguin Texas in the late 1970s where he enjoyed farming, gardening and fishing trips to the coast. He enjoyed morning time with his friends at the Seguin Donut Palace. Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Leone Jamison, his parents, his in-laws, Orlando and Anna Serum and his brothers, William, Thomas and Donald, and his sisters Elizabeth, Suzanne and Jean. Survivors include his loving companion, Joyce Dreibrodt; sons, Richard "Rich" Jamison and wife Linda and Michael Jamison and his wife Linda; daughter, Linda Braaten and her husband Tim; grandchildren, Melissa Braaten, Sarah Ferguson and husband Dickson, Chris Braaten and wife Meredith, Tonya Evin and husband Deniz, Joshua Jamison and wife Michele, Tasha Moody and husband Brent, Andy Paul Jamison and Jennifer Nogalski and husband Mark; brothers, John Jamison and wife Faye, and Ed Jamison; cousins, Bob Smith and wife Ardella and Mabel Hagen and husband John; Joyce's family, David Dreibrodt and wife Linda, Dana Naworski and husband David and Danny Dreibrodt and their children, Canaan and Colson Dreibrodt, Alli and Lauren Naworski and Faith, Lily and Bella Dreibrodt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Jamison, Christopher Braaten, Guy Weldon, Joe Peoples, David Brucks, and Ronnie Humphreys. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan McKenzie and Joe Tocquiney. Memorial contributions may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, P. O. Box 186, Geronimo, Texas, 78115-0186.
