IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Mycue
July 10, 1944 – August 12, 2018
A life filled with family, architecture, historical details, and friendships was the life story of Seguin native Richard (Dick) MyCue. Born into a conservative German family in 1944 and raised in Seguin, Dick was quick to appreciate his heritage and many lifelong friends and relatives in the local area.
Following complications of a previous stroke, death came suddenly at home on August 1 2.
A 1962 graduate of Seguin High School, Dick attended Texas Lutheran College, now TLU , was drafted into the army during the Vietnam era , and later attended the University of Texas , graduating from the School of Architecture. He worked as an in tern in the New York City office of famed architect, Philip J o hnson and later received a Master of Urban Planning from the City University of New York in 1974.
Throughout his career, Dick's specialty was restoration architecture. He had an office in Seguin in the middle 1970's, worked and traveled for a time in the late 1970's for the State of Texas , reviewing and making recommendations on structures of historical significance . Later he opened an office in San Antonio refining his specialty. Most recently, he worked for B & A A rchitects in San Antonio as a preservation architect.
With a move to Seguin after retirement in 2015, Dick rekindled long time friendships and enjoyed visiting with acquaintances at coffee shops , on the downtown streets and at the Heritage Museum. Preceding him in death are his grandparents Mary and Grover MyCue, Della and Henry Koepsel , and parents Arline in 2018 and Roger MyCue in 2001. He is survived by three children, Arden Henderson (Jesse) of Arkansas, Merrick MyCue (Meredith), and Ferris MyCue (Shana) of Austin. He was proud of his three grandchildren: Ben, Emerson, and Gwendolyn MyCue. Also surviving are his siblings: Judy (Jim) Johnson, Jerry (Carol) MyCue, Scotty (Jacque) MyCue, Merry Livingston, and Teri (John) Nash. Remembering him are many nieces , nephews and cousins and previous spouses, Margaret and Kari.
The family wishes to thank Dick's neighbor, Seguin Coffee Company, for their caring and friendship of our father, brother, grandfather and uncle.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of the Life of Richard MyCue at the Heritage Museum, 114 N. River from 5:00-6:30 P.M. on Friday August 17, 2018. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heritage Museum in memory of Richard H. MyCue.
