Robert "Bob" Alvin Jandt, Maj., USAF (Ret.), was called home by our Heavenly Father on February 11, 2016 at the age of 82 at his home in Seguin, Texas following a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Bob was born on October 22, 1933 in Seguin to Alvin and Myrtle (Stafford) Jandt. He was preceded in death by both his parents and grandparents Robert and Rosa Jandt. Bob graduated from Southwest Texas State University and was commissioned into the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country as a fighter pilot, retiring after 20 years. Bob had the honor of flying the first air refueling flight from California to Japan, as well as serving a tour of duty as a bomber pilot in Vietnam in the mid 1960's. Upon his retirement, Bob taught Math at Seguin High School and is remembered for the black western attire he would wear every Friday. Throughout his life, Bob remained an avid rancher of Brangus cattle. His passion for hunting was something that he was able to share with his grandchildren as they grew up. He was a lifetime member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church, a founding member of the Sunrise Lions Club, and a member of the American Legion H.U. Wood Post 245. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Martha Jandt. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary two days following his death. He also survived by his daughter DeeDee Cook and husband John Cook, Becky Lake, Bill Jandt; grandchildren; Cody Jandt, Ashlyn Jandt, Lane Springs, Haleigh Cook; daughter–in-law Elizabeth Tessman Jandt. Serving as pallbearers will be John Cook, Lane Springs, Cody Jandt, Marvel Maddox, Mark Mattison, and Roy Merz.
