Obituary

Robert Aaron (Bob) Richardson, Jr. was called home on January 10, 2018. He was 83 years old at the time of his passing.
Bob was born in Muldoon, Texas, on November 3, 1934. He was the son of Nina Pearl Robbins and Robert Aaron Richardson, Sr. Although he was an only child, Bob was the product of a very large and extended family, and the values he learned in his early years shaped the man he became and the values he lived for the rest of his life.
During his early years, Bob grew up in Flatonia, Texas, and moved to Seguin to begin attending Mary B. Erskine Junior High School while in the 7th grade.
While attending Seguin High School from 1949 – 1952, Bob played football and was known as the "Muldoon Flash." Bob was also elected class president among other honors.
Bob met the love of his life Jo Ann Iltis in 1951. They were named Mr. & Miss SHS as well as senior class sweethearts. They were married on February 10, 1953. Bob and Jo Ann were deeply in love and enjoyed a story book marriage for nearly 65 years. The love he had for Jo Ann was Bob's driving force for the rest of his days.
Shortly after marriage, Bob worked as an apprentice electrician at the Alcoa plant in Rockdale, Texas, for a brief time before moving back to Seguin and beginning a long career as a printer for both South Texas Printing and Tommy Brown Printing. Bob retired from the printing business in 1996. After retirement Bob did volunteer work for several years at Guadalupe Valley Hospital. Bob always loved working in his yard and was at peace while riding his lawnmower, trimming trees, and spending time with his family.
One of the things Bob was proud of was that he saved the large oak tree on North King Street when it was scheduled to be cut down to accommodate the King Street construction. Bob, always a tough negotiator, exerted his straightforward communication skills to save the tree, which we call "Bob's Tree" to this day.
Bob, aka Granddaddy, is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann, three children; Steve and his wife Debby, Chris and his wife Nancy, Tracey Ginn and her husband Mike, and daughter in law Gerry Richardson. His son Brian and his wife Sandy, though deceased, are not forgotten. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Jennifer Gressett and husband Rodney, Jamie Richardson, Jacie McHaney and husband Andrew, Landrie Richardson, Rianna Richardson, Brittany Pickering and husband Chris, Ruston Richardson and wife Karina, Garrett Wright, Jessica Edler, and 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 20, 2018, at the Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center (Big Red Barn). Private interment will take place at a later date. Memorials on Bob's behalf can be sent to the Seguin Animal Services, 555 Fred Byrd Dr., Seguin, Texas, 78155.
Granddaddy will be remembered as an honest, straight forward, loving man of integrity, who continually modeled a values driven life. But most of all, he showed us all how to be a loving husband and to place family first above all else.
We're going to miss you Granddaddy.
