Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Dominic, age 83 of Seguin, formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away on July 10, 2009. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Tony Pesek officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Bob was born on January 17, 1926 in Krebs, Oklahoma to his parents, John J. and Lucy Di Giacomo Dominic. The second of three sons, he graduated from St. John' s High School, McAlester, Oklahoma and Hill's Business College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War 11 and participated in the battle for Okinawa as a replacement member of the 96th Infantry division. He was employed by Continental Oil Co. in Ponca City, Oklahoma on June 28, 1948. He was transferred to Houston, Texas in 1962 and early retired there on February 1, 1980 after almost 32 years of service. At the time of retirement, he was Director of Refinery Supply and Trading in the Crude Oil Department. He was employed by Tesoro Crude Oil Company as a Vice President on February 1, 1980, at which time he moved to San Antonio, Texas. He retired from Tesoro in 1987. He moved to Seguin, Texas in Sept. 2007. While in San Antonio, he was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and its branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He volunteered for 19 years at St. Vincent De Paul Society. He married Wilma Phipps at St. John' s Catholic Church in Mc Alester, Oklahoma on June 3, 1950, to them were born fours sons, Dennis, Paul, Patrick and Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonard. In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, he is survived by his brother, Virgil & wife Shawn and his four sons & their families: Dennis & Trish, Tara, Kayla and Mark; Paul & Denise, Lindsey, Chris, Bobby, and Danny; Pat & Tricia and Patrick; and Mike & Brenda and Michael Christopher, as well as 6 nieces and nephews and one great grandson, Landen Christopher; sister-in-law, Helen Ross; brother-in-law, Johnny Phipps and his best friend, James F. Smith; numerous other loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James School Library, 510 S. Camp, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
