IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert (Bob)
E. Barry
August 14, 1938 – July 20, 2023
Robert E. "Bob" Barry, age 84 of Seguin, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2023. Bob was born on August 14, 1938, in Gorman, Texas to Iris (Cotten) and Maurice Barry.
Bob graduated from Orange Grove High School in 1956. Following graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, during which he was 1 of the 1,000 servicemen tasked by President Eisenhower to stifle a hostile environment and facilitate the desegregation process occurring at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Following an honorable discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life Frances "Fran" Barry in 1963. Bob and Fran welcomed their son Stanton "Kynan" Barry into the world in 1967. In 1995, Bob retired from Transco Energy after 30 years of service.
In 2008, his athletic contributions to the Orange Grove High School football team were honored when he was inducted into the Orange Grove High School Football Hall of Fame. Anyone who knew Bob knew he loved fishing and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys, these were his two favorite pastimes. While Fran was his greatest "catch", he took great pride in the 36-pound catfish he caught on rod-n-reel while fishing on Lake Placid in Seguin, Texas.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gaylon Barry.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Fran Barry; son, Kynan Barry, and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Kristian Barry-Vestal and husband Matthew, and Kellan Barry and fiancé Madelyn Di Orio; great-grandchildren, Memphis and Walker Vestal; several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and friends.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in the Gussettville Cemetery near George West, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
