Roberta G. Horton, age 72, passed away on August 17, 2025. She was born on August 16, 1953, in Canton, Illinois, to Ruby M. (Richardson) and J.D. Groff. Roberta was a longtime resident of Seguin, Texas, where she was a member of Emmanuel's Lutheran Church.

Roberta is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen Groff.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John Horton; her sister, Evelyn West (Clay); sister-in-law, Alicia Groff; nieces, Cassidie Luther (Ben) and Kristin West-Herrera (Isaac); nephew, Michael Groff; great-nieces, great-nephews, other loving family members, and many friends.

Roberta was an avid horsewoman who trained, and competed on barrel horses. She religiously ran barrels, and was always happy to offer advice or help to anyone who asked. You couldn't have asked for a better person to cheer you on.

She enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting by the river and taking in the sights. Roberta loved visiting the zoo to see the animals. She was an animal lover who had, over the years, a plethora of dogs, cats, horses, and even a rescue parakeet. She took pleasure in staying at home, loving on all her animals, and doing crafts like crocheting, drawing, and stained glass. Roberta also enjoyed writing poems and short stories, some of her poems were published, a personal accomplishment she was very proud of.

Memorial service will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Marcus Bigott officiating.
