Rodger M. Weyel, age 86 of Seguin, passed away on August 26, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andy Smith, Rev. Ron Welborn, Rev. Jeremy Roy, Rev. Tom Jones, and Harry Dietz officiating and military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H U Wood Post 245. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Private interment will be held at San Geronimo Cemetery. Rodger was born on November 15, 1928 in Seguin Texas to Edgar August and Irma Elsie (Muelder) Weyel. Raised in New Berlin, Rodger was a resident of Guadalupe County his entire life, moving to Seguin as a teenager where he was a 1949 graduate of Seguin High School. He then attended Texas Lutheran College. He proudly honored his country by serving in the United States Naval Reserve. Rodger's father E. A. Weyel opened a Studebaker dealership in 1949 and Rodger began his career as a salesman. Soon after the Buick dealership became available, Weyel Buick was formed and included the Opel and Jeep dealership. In 2004 Rodger sold the Buick Dealership. Rodger proudly served on the Seguin City Council for 44 years and was commended in a resolution by the Late State Representative Edmund Kuempel for his long, faithful and dedicated service to his community. One of his proudest accomplishments was getting water from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer. Rodger was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Seguin and over 50 year member of the Seguin Noon Lions Club. He is preceded in death by his first wife Betsy Traeger Weyel, his parents and his sister Marjorie Donegan. Survivors include his loving wife Linda Weyel; daughters, Kitty Keller and husband Bill, and Libby Weyel; his granddaughters, Katie Keller Patrick and husband David, Maggie Keller and fiancé Danny Passmore, Sarah Posey and husband Steven, Rebekah Varzally and husband Jonathan and Hannah Bruce and husband Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Molly Patrick; step-sons, Brian Dvorak and wife Miranda and Kenneth Dvorak; mother-in-law, Mary Woosley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Rodger will be missed by a grateful community throughout Guadalupe County as he was a true friend to all. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710, N.
