Roger (R.L.) Scheel, age 72 of Seguin, passed away on February 6, 2010. Visitation will begin Monday, February 8, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Roger was born on September 28, 1937 in Seguin, Texas to Bert and Hilda Friesenhahn Scheel. In his early years, Roger along with his wife Beverly owned and operated Rogers Drive Inn in Zippville. He also operated R. L. Scheel Paving Co. for twenty years, prior to his sons taking over in 1982. Most recently, he owned and operated R. L. Scheel Materials. R. L. was full of life and loved spending time with his many friends and family, playing music and throwing horseshoes. He was an avid fisherman and caught many record catfish. He will be remembered for his loving nature, his German sausage making, and the "Best" BBQ in Texas! His parents, his brother, Allen Scheel and his brother-in-law, Leroy Reiley preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly Ahr Scheel; sons, Terry Scheel and wife Cindy and Brian Scheel and wife Linae; daughter, Donna Patrick and husband Rex; grandchildren, Kyle Scheel, Reagan Scheel, Tabitha Patrick, Kara Scheel, Kendall Scheel, Karlee Scheel and Skylar Patrick; great-grandson, Karson Cruz; sister, Rosemary Reiley Pfullmann and husband James; sisters-in-law, Gayle Scheel and Vivian Scott; numerous nieces and nephews.
