Ronald Delor Wikoff, also known as "Pop-Pop," died in his home at age 76 on Friday, July 21, 2017. He leaves his proud American heritage with his son Walter Jay Wikoff, granddaughter Cara Jean Turner, grandson Jake Logan Wikoff, and 4 biological great-grandchildren. In addition, he was a loving adoptive grandfather to siblings Nathaniel Lang and Sheridan Johnson, who share a total of 7 (and counting) great-grandchildren. Ron is reunited in the afterlife with his beloved wife Janice Wikoff ("Meemo") and his son David Wikoff. Ron was born in Edinburg, Texas and was a cherished only child. He grew up in Harlingen, Texas and often shared his fond childhood memories of growing up in America's golden era. As a young man, he served in the Navy after the likeness of his father JQ Wikoff, and he met the love of his life, Janice Louise Hill, in California. Within just a few months they were married in Unionville, Missouri on July 14th, 1962. He and his wife raised 2 sons- Walter Jay and David Mahlon. Ron received a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, began working for Nestle as a taste tester, settled into a career as a legal investigator for an attorney, and then worked as a claims adjuster for an insurance company. In his later years, he took a great interest in his and his wife's genealogy and was able to uncover a tremendous amount of rich family history after years of dedication and research, which he has left for his descendants to treasure. Ron was a bird watcher and a cat fanatic who had over a dozen cats over the course of his lifetime. He was organized, thoughtful, honest, and a jokester who maintained an incredible work ethic for all of his years. He was also an avid cook who could always be found in the kitchen perfecting all sorts of recipes. He struggled for several decades with a variety of health issues. Through the long haul, he maintained eloquence of speech and remained of sound mind up until his final week of life. Pop-Pop will be sorely missed and not soon forgotten by the loved ones he leaves behind. His ashes will be spread along with the ashes of his wife who passed away in 2009 and with the ashes of his son who passed away in 2016. The memorial service and disposition will be held in private at a later date.
