Ronnie L. Duck, was born August 30, 1949, in Pampa, Texas, passed away on September 8, 2026, after a life marked by service, independence, adventure, and a deep love for the people and animals who mattered most to him.
Ronnie was born and raised in Pampa and was a Texan through and through. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, including service in Vietnam. His military service was one of many defining chapters in a life that was anything but ordinary.
Throughout his working life, Ronnie built careers in both law enforcement and information technology. Even later in life, he never stopped learning. In recent years, he had been working toward earning his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University, a reflection of his curiosity, determination, and belief that there was always something more to learn.
Ronnie loved motorcycles and rode with Los Dragones of Texas. He also enjoyed traveling, gaming, discovering good food, and seeing what was around the next corner. He valued his independence and enjoyed his solitude, but he also treasured time spent with friends and family.
He was funny, sarcastic, stubborn, fiercely independent, and big-hearted. Ronnie had a way of making people laugh, often with a dry remark or a perfectly timed bit of sarcasm. Beneath that stubborn streak was a man who cared deeply about the people in his life, even if he did not always show it in obvious ways.
And anyone who knew Ronnie knew how much he loved animals. At times, he may have preferred their company to people — and those closest to him would probably say there was at least a little truth in that. Animals held a special place in his heart and brought him a great deal of joy throughout his life.
Ronnie knew both great love and great loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Dorothy Duck; his brother, Alan Duck; his wife, Jan; his infant daughter, Krishina; and his granddaughters, Suzanne and Amariah.
He is survived by his daughter, Aquilla Lynn Duck Teakell, and her husband, Jeremy Teakell Sr.; his grandchildren, Caleb Teakell, Jacob Teakell, Jeremy Teakell Jr., Abigail Perry, Amber Lively, and Ashlynn Organ; and his four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his beloved Joyce Boatright; his sister, Talonye Kay Slanaker; his niece, Lindsay Denson and her husband Chad; and his nephews, Seth McGahen, Casey McGahen, Tito Pollock and his wife Nichole, Paul Pollock and his wife Brandy; along with extended family, friends, fellow riders, and many others whose lives were better, funnier, and more memorable because Ronnie was part of them.
Ronnie served. He worked. He learned. He traveled. He rode. He laughed. He loved his family, his friends, his freedom, his animals, and the open road. He lived life in his own way and leaves behind stories that will be told for years to come.
Fair winds and open roads, Ronnie. You are at rest now.
