Rosa Riojas Bustamante, age 91, of Nixon, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 4, 2026. Held by her daughter and nephew, her last words were how much she loved all of us and that everything would be OK. Rosa was born on March 2, 1935, in Nixon, Texas to Rosenda (Esquivel) and Patricio Riojas.
She lived her life surrounded by the love of her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening in her beautiful yard. Her legacy of love lives on through those she comforted, helped raise and through the numerous young people she fed from the Blessing House known as her home in Nixon. Rosa lived a life of faith secure in Christ’s promise. Forever loved she will be missed.
Rosa is preceded in death by her daughters, Elizabeth “Tina” Bustamente and Sarah Ann Riojas, infant son Carlos Bustamente, infant daughter, Caroline Bustamente, her young grandson, Carlos B Keppers, her parents and her siblings: Jose Riojas, Antonio Riojas, Julia R. Aguirre, Johnny Riojas, Severo Riojas, Jose Angel Riojas, Elvira R. Pena, Manuel Riojas, Concepcion (Chon) Riojas, Patricio Riojas, Lucia R. Marquez, Tommy Riojas, Gloria R. McCreary, Natalie R. Barron, and infant son, Epifanio Riojas.
Survivors include her Children, Dona B Keppers and husband, Craig from Alaska, John Bustamente and wife Janet, Deborah Bustamente, and Lucinda B Pouncey from Smiley, Nixon and Wrightsboro; Grandsons, Callan Bustamente and wife, Tasha, Dakota Bustamente, Aris O. Pouncey, and Geran Bustamente; Sister, Mary Riojas Deleon; Brother-in-law, Jesse Barron; Sister-in-law, Molly Riojas; beloved extended family, Collie, Kristi, Conley and Cameron Boatright and the entire Bruce Patteson family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will begin at 2 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel in Seguin, Texas followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:30 PM led by niece, Adella Bermea. The Celebration of Life Service will commence at 3 PM with the Reverend George Bradley officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
