Obituary

Rose Annette Lloyd Larsen, age 78 of Seguin, passed away on July 25, 2018. Celebration of life services will be announced at a later date. Annette was born in Seguin, Texas on May 31, 1940 to Henry Edward and Ruth Elizabeth (Stanford) Lloyd. She took an active role in her community where she tirelessly volunteered over 4000 hours in family services for military families while living in Fort Worth, Texas. She had been an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, H. U. Wood ALA Unit #245. She received the Legislative Award for the most outstanding overall legislative program for many years running and in 2006 she received the Narrative Award and Member of the year in 2007. She was a frequent research and script writer for New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department's Comal Cemetery's "Soul Searching" Cemetery Tour. She served on the New Braunfel's High School Class of 1958 Reunion Planning Committee, served on the Walnut Branch Park Restoration Project Committee for Seguin. Annette will be remembered as a dedicated animal advocate working closely with the Guadalupe County Humane Society. In 2016, Annette was commissioned a Yellow Rose of Texas by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The Commission of the Yellow Rose of Texas is a sixty-year old honorary commission conferred by the Governors of Texas in recognition of exceptional Texas women who have served their communities in various ways. Annette's husband of 62 years, Don was named Seguin Citizen of the year in 2005. Annette is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Dean Broome, Jewel Richter, and Adele Baker, and her brother, Ray Lloyd. Survivors include her loving husband Don Larsen; son Jim Larsen and wife Paula; daughter, Donna Larsen Massa; sisters, Joyce Pehl and June Arnold; brother-in-law, Jack Broome; sister-in-law, Shirley Bruckner; three granddaughters and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many, many friends. Annette was kind, compassionate, and feisty with a quick wit, and she will be remembered for her outstanding community service where she always focused on improving the present and building the future.
