IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ross Lynn
Leone, Jr.
September 8, 1946 – March 1, 2023
Ross Lynn Leone Jr. departed for eternal rest at 76 years old on March 1, 2023. Lynn was born on September 8, 1946 to Ross Sr. and Helen (Zwernemann) in Houston, Texas.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his 3 children- Ross III, Robert, and Terilyn, and 3 grandchildren- Maeve, Ross IV, and Lillith.
He was a 1964 graduate of Spring Branch High School and received his Bachelors of Science in Business and Marketing from LSU in 1968. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for almost 4 decades as Public Relations Officer, eventually believing the agency to be unconstitutional but he had a passion to help all people navigate through the bureaucracy and challenge of simply paying taxes, ultimately hoping one day to see it disbanded or extremely simplified. Throughout his life he was involved in a multitude of community, charity, historical, and political organizations, with special devotion to the National Rail Historical Society, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and Libertarian Party. He ran as a Libertarian in various elections over the last decade of his life and had an unwavering belief in Private Property, Personal Rights, and The Constitution.
He was an excellent and studious chess player, always working toward perfecting his game play and strategy on the board, attaining the rank of grandmaster in United States Postal Chess and just falling short of Master in the United States Chess Federation, where he was certified at their highest level as a Tournament Director and Coach. He had a love of history that extended beyond his vast library of history books and was intimately personal as he researched his and his friend's ancestry, connecting living generations with those of their earliest American immigrant forefathers. There was never a person who had a conversation with him that didn't learn something new and interesting.
Most of all, he was a loving and caring Father who took his kids on every vacation and trip he could to teach and have fun with them, where they learned far more than they ever could in any school. He spent his last days playing with his grandson Ross IV and constantly talking about the great future he knew was in store for him.
