Roy E. Hairr, age 81 of Seguin, passed away on October 29, 2009. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Emanuel's Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul J. Zwarich and Pastoral Assistant Willie Spreen officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Roy was born on July 16, 1928 in Clinton, North Carolina to Augustus Davis and Vinnie Honeycutt Hairr. Roy proudly served in the United States Navy and Air Force. He was a member of the Seguin Elks Lodge #1229 and American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 in Seguin. He volunteered at the Silver Center, the Elks Lodge and he ushered at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Hairr, his wife Nella Hairr, his parents and seven brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his fiancée, Lorene Schraub; children, Michael E. Hairr and wife Jan, Patricia Groves and husband Mark, Randy Hairr and wife Amy and Kathryn Czarnecka; grandchildren, Stephanie Doyle, Allison Cleveland, Mitchell Berryhill, Kaitlin Czarnecka, Amy Groves, Jayden Hairr and Peyton Hairr; great granddaughter, Emilee Doyle; sister, Mexie Bailey; brother, Thomas Earl Hairr; special friends, Cindy and Galen Sczech, Angela and Tray Fraley and their daughter Addison, and Doug and Velma Buie; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel's Lutheran Church, Seguin Elks Lodge #1229, American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245, the Seguin Silver Center or the charity of one's choice.
