Obituary

Russell "Rusty" "Papi" Heidemeyer, age 65 of Seguin, joined our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Russell was born on March 6, 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Darwin and Barbara (Sewell) Heidemeyer. He is preceded in death by his father, Darwin Heidemeyer Sr., and his brother, Butch Heidemeyer. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Brittany Heidemeyer and husband Gabriel Martinez; his one and only granddaughter whom he adored, Halen Heaven Martinez; his mother whom he cherished with every ounce of his being, Barbara Heidemeyer; his loving sister, Rochelle Hesseltine and husband Richard; the mother of his amazing children; Donna Heidemeyer; his step-children that considered him daddy, Deonna, Shonna, Kristin, Darwin "Trey", Jerry Oliver Heidemeyer, Cheryl and Mikey, Eric and Nita, Josh and Teri; his lifelong best friend, John Bo Scherrer; his special companion, Kim Heidemeyer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and perhaps more friends than anyone can count. Rusty was a one of a kind soul, he was one of the only people in this world that cared about each and every individual that came into his life, whether it be a passing stranger or a friend of a friend, Rusty would be the guy who would give his shirt off of his back and the last dollar bill in his pocket. Rusty enjoyed many things in this life, he loved his animals, motorcycles and especially classic rock. He was a devoted Rio Fan! Fruit and Susan, Steve and Danny (and don't you dare forget Fernando) Many many joys came from seeing them perform and hearing the music in his soul. He was a devoted servant of God; he loved our Lord and Savior with every ounce of his being! There are so many people that come and go in this world and Rusty, dad, daddy, step-daddy, Papi will be one glowing light that will always be near and dear to everyone's hearts that he touched for all eternity. A celebration of life was held in Rusty's honor at his mother's house. Rusty wanted the party on him, he always promised he would make it easy, and remember his words, "Everything is going to be Okay".
