Sam Wayne Hollida, age 77 of Seguin, passed away on December 16, 2024. He was born on November 27, 1947 in Harlingen, Texas to Cloyce Mryl (Parson) and Raymond Griffin Hollida.
He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the family business in Combes, Texas. Later he owned a rodeo and livestock photography business for over twenty years where he made many lifelong friends and associates. He owned and operated Diamond S Gate Service until his death. He was inducted into the South Central Texas Rodeo Ring of Honor, Central Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame, and was to be inducted into the Rodeo Cowboys of South Texas for his rodeo photography in March.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Cloyce Hollida of Combes, Texas and one brother, Clarence "Doc" Hollida.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie Hollida Riggs and husband Matt Riggs; two grandsons, Matthew Riggs, Jr. and Jackson Riggs; one sister Nita Ganstine of Mandeville, Louisiana; one sister-in-law Gene Hollida; 5 nieces and nephews, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on January 6, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
