IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra M
Peters
October 3, 1941 – September 14, 2024
Sandra Peters, 82, of Seguin, TX, was called home by our Heavenly Father on September 14, 2024. She was born in Harlingen, TX on October 3, 1941, to Philip "Allan" MacMahon and Emma "Fern" McKim MacMahon.
She attended grade school in Laredo, TX before finishing high school in Alice, TX. She then graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX with a degree in Education. While at Texas A&I, she met Jack Peters at a freshman "dateless" dance. The two would marry in 1963 before moving to Houston, TX in their 1955 Chevy Bel Air . . . with no air conditioning.
She dedicated her time to raising their sons, Brian Jack and Alan James Peters in a home they built together on rural land in Cypress, TX. They joined Cypress United Methodist Church. She planted pine trees and flower beds, worked at the school, and developed a talent for painting. She taught adult art classes and later opened her own gallery, The Texas Art Ranch, with her dear friend Neyna Sullivan, selling original artwork, prints, and ornaments.
In 1994 Jack and Sandra moved to Lake McQueeney and joined First Methodist Church Seguin. Together, they spent time ranching, and she volunteered extensively with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
She loved wildflowers, Tex-Mex, Willie Nelson, and the Houston Astros. Her favorite place to visit was Angel Fire, NM where she enjoyed the snow, warm fires, feeding the hummingbirds, snow shoeing, and the occasional slot machine. Cancer tried to take her in 2009, but she fought back with a quiet grit so she could make more memories with her beloved grandchildren. She even climbed Wheeler Peak (the tallest in New Mexico) once more as a survivor.
Sandra was preceded in death by son Keith (1968), father P.A. MacMahon (1988), mother Fern MacMahon (1998), brother Philip MacMahon (2005), and sister Patricia Manglberger (2015).
She is survived by her loving husband Jack; son Brian and his wife Joy and their son Luke of Lakeway, TX; son Alan and his wife Sarah and their children Camden, Nolan, Mabry, and Meryl of Austin, TX; granddaughter Brookelynn Hale and her husband Kevin with great-grandchildren Jayden and Jettley of Midland, TX; her brother Michael MacMahon and his wife Linda of Alice, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Methodist Church of Seguin, or to Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center of Austin, Texas.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at First Methodist Church of Seguin on Monday October 14th at 11:00 am with the Rev. Cathe Evins officiating.
As she was fond of saying, "It is what it is."
