Santiaga "Coni" Espino Rodriguez, 92, of Hoopeston, IL, was born into eternal life on September 11, 2024. Coni was surrounded by family at her daughter's home in Seguin, TX.  She was born on July 25, 1932, in Alto Bonito, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Santos and Josefa Espino. She married Liborio "Louie" or "Luis" Rodriguez in1953 at Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2003.

Coni is survived by seven children, Jose Luis "Joe" Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, Maria Graciela "Gracie" Solis (Ramon), Olga Lydia Mayer (Paul), Lionel Armando Rodriguez, Corina Rodriguez, and Nancy Rodriguez Spadaro (Stephen); three siblings Maria Andrea Espino, Gonzalo Espino and Cata Villarreal; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Nora Elia Cruz, her daughter-in-law, Elida Rojo Rodriguez, her parents Santos and Josefa Espino, and siblings Pablo Espino, Juan Espino, Julia Resendez, Gerardo Espino, and Chata Espino.

Coni was a beloved mother, devoted wife, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was known for her loving, kind, cheerful personality.

Coni enjoyed cooking and cooking shows, gardening, watching novelas, and listening to Mexican music ranging from norteño to Mariachi with Pedro Infante being her favorite singer. She lived a life filled with passion and service towards others, and always prayed for others well-being.

Coni leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will forever be remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel, 165 Tor Drive, Seguin, TX.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Canon Stanislaw Fiuk officiating will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 510 S. Camp St., Seguin, TX.  A reception will follow at St. James Parish Hall.

Interment will follow reception. A funeral procession will commence at 1:20 p.m. from St. James Catholic Church to the final resting place at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park (cemetery) at 2:00 p.m., 2951 S. State Highway 46, New Braunfels, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston, IL or Saint James Catholic Church in Seguin, TX, or an offering of a helping hand to a senior citizen or children in need.
