Santiago "Jimmy" Zuniga, Jr., age 74 of Seguin passed away on June 9, 2025. Jimmy was born on March 12, 1951 in Seguin, Texas to Brigida (Rangel) and Santiago Zuniga, Sr.
Jimmy was a member of the Seguin High School graduating Class of 1969. He attended TSTI in Waco where he received his Associate's Degree in Diesel Mechanics. Most of his career was spent in the service department at Grande Ford in San Antonio.
Jimmy and his beloved wife Rose Mary were instrumental in helping start the Conjunto Juan Seguin Program and served as the Teatro de Artes De Juan Seguin Board of Directors who oversaw the program for many years. He will be remembered as a Seguin Little League Baseball Coach serving in that role for many years, something he was extremely passionate about. Jimmy collected both hot wheels cars and also had a collection of old cars.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey James "J. J." Zuniga, his grand twins, Annalysa and Carmella Zuniga, his parents, and his brother, Saul Zuniga.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Rose Mary Zuniga; daughter, Regina Applewhite (Chris); son, Jason Zuniga (Gwen); step-daughter, Melissa Zuniga (Mick); grandchildren, Craig Applewhite (Samantha), Michael Applewhite, Caleb Applewhite (Samantha), Khrisgina Applewhite, Rosalin, Shaun (Demmi), Devine, Emery, Petty Officer 1st Class Aubryanna Zuniga, United States Navy, Tahtiyanna Zuniga (Jonathan), Tiffany De La O (Jose), Brittany Hernandez (Rick), and Jolissa Rodriguez; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel Zuniga (Rose Mary), and Salome Zuniga (Carmen); sister, Sandra Morales (Margarito); numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 6 p.m. with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11 a. m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Simon Gonzales officiating. Interment will follow in Santo Tomas Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Samuel Zuniga, Salome Zuniga, Chris Applewhite, Craig Applewhite, Michael Applewhite, and Caleb Applewhite.
