Secundino "Cundo" G. Rangel, Sr., age 77 of Seguin, passed away on June 27, 2008. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Tomas Z. Grabara officiating. Entombment with military honors under the auspices of American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 and the United States Army, will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum. Cundo was born on July 1, 1930 in Seguin, Texas to Cecilio L. and Anita Gonzales Rangel. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Most of his career was spent as a security officer. His parents precede him in death as do his brother, Manuel Rangel and sister, Cecilia Castellanos. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Amelia (Amy) Rangel; children, Cynthia Rangel, Secundino Rangel, Jr. and wife, Alicia and Christopher P. Rangel and partner Ileen Rosales; brothers and sisters, Guadalupe Zavala and husband Reyes, Tina Garcia, Bernardo Rangel and wife Maria, Juan Rangel and wife Stella and Rosie Lopez and husband Jose Martinez; aunt, Alicia Martinez; grandchildren, Robert Rene Cervantes and wife Jana, Jennifer Rangel and partner, Luis Moreno, Secundino Rangel, III and partner, Brandy Pena, CPL Marcelino Rangel, USMC, Brittany Rangel, Jennifer J. Rangel and partner Glenn Hayner, Abel Chistopher Rangel and partner, Bethany Perez, Briana Rangel and Marc Benavides; great-grandchildren, Robert Diego and Beau Cervantes, Justin and Alexandria Ramirez, Milagro Moreno, Ariana, Delilah, Tatum, Presley and Gavin Rangel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. "Cundo" was a proud and loving man who served his country and whose family was the most important thing to him.
