Simon "Pop" R. Rivera, age 82 of Seguin, entered into eternal rest with his loving family by his side on February 23, 2020. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 5 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Simon was born on October 28, 1937 in Guadalupe County, Texas to Luis V. and Francis (Rojas) Rivera. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Maria Rivera, son Domingo Rivera, and his infant daughter, Martha Rivera. Survivors include his children, Robert Rivera and wife Norma, Dolores Garcia and husband Joel, Jerry Rivera and wife Minnie, Olivia Rivera and husband Macario, Joey Rivera and wife Kimberley, Maria Sanchez and husband Luis, Sylvia Caballero and husband Matthew, and Rene Rivera and wife Angie; 29 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alicia Perez and husband Chris, Maria Frausto, Theresa Gutierrez; brothers-in-law, David and Alex Urdialez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many many friends. Simon was a dedicated family man, and a hard worker. He was loving and caring man to his grandchildren who fondly knew him as "Pop". Simon had a deep love for music, he enjoyed playing his guitar and was always caught singing anywhere he would be. His pastimes included fishing, and family BBQ's. Pop will be missed deeply by his large and loving family; BBQ's will not be the same without him. Serving as pallbearers will be, Joy Juarez, Janie Rivera, Louie Rivera, Robert Rivera, Jr., Joseph Rivera, Billy Rivera, Carlos Garcia, Ernest Barrientos, Manuel Barrientos, and Johnny Ortiz, Jr.
