Stephen Parker was born on August 12, 1921, in Thomson, Georgia, to Malcolm Ashley and Maggie Sue Johnston Parker. He passed to eternal glory and rest March 9, 2016, in Seguin, at the age of 94. Technical Sergeant Stephen Parker served with distinction during WWII in the US Army Air Corps. After his return from duty in the South Pacific, he met his long-time wife and helpmate, Dorothy Jean Wiegand Parker. Upon their marriage on August 28, 1947, they settled and raised their family in Ingleside, Texas. Stephen was a role-model for selfless service at home, church, and in the community. Known as "Steve" at work, he retired from a 25-year career with Reynolds Metals in 1986. In 2001, he and Dorothy moved to Seguin and enjoyed fellowship at the First Baptist Church and many engaging visits with family and friends in Central Texas. Stephen was also an active member in the Seguin Art League, American Legion H U Wood Post 245 and Geronimo Memorial VFW Post 8456.
Preceded in death are his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his parents; his siblings, Ellen Castleberry, John Parker, and Harold Parker; and, his close cousin Ann Piper Wise.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond Parker, living in Georgia; five children and their families in Texas, Randall (Robby), Stanley (Priscilla), Stephanie, Rebecca (Phillip) Thompson, and Roger (Linda); eleven grandchildren Nicole, Ryan (Marisa), Richard, Joshua, Travis, Alyssa, James (Brooklyn), Daniel, Stephen, Christina, and Angela; and, two great-grandchildren, Rex and Jonathan.
On Saturday, March 12, 2016, the family will greet visitors in the First Baptist Church of Seguin church lobby at 9:30 AM prior to a funeral service at 10 AM with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating and military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 in Seguin. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery, Uhland, Texas, at 1 PM. Thereafter, a reception will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Kyle. In lieu of flowers, memorial bequests may be made, in Stephen's name, to the First Baptist Church, 1314 East Cedar Street, Seguin Texas, 78155 or to the South Texas Children's Home Ministries, PO Box 759, Beeville, TX 78104.
