T.C. "Bud" Bruce, age 86, of Seguin and formerly of Ingleside and Portland, Tx, died November 5, 2007. Bud will lie in state Wednesday, November 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seguin with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Interment will follow in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas. Bud was born on October 8, 1921 to Riley Burton and Edna Winters Bruce in Madisonville,Texas. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Civil Service at Corpus Christi Naval Base in the late 1970's. Bud considered it an honor and a privilege to faithfully serve as a Deacon at both First Baptist Church in Portland and later at First Baptist Church in Seguin. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Naomi Burns Bruce; daughter, Mary Angelon Turberville and husband Ashley; granddaughters who knew him as Papa, Melanie Hewell and husband Tres, Leslie Akin and husband Brad, Lacey Gosch and husband Chris; Great-grandchildren, Matthew Harry and Mary Claire Akin, Hunter Holmes Hewell and Ashley Elizabeth Gosch; sister, Joy Larsen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Seguin. Pallbearers will be his grandsons-in-law, great-grandsons and his nephew Kelly Longbotham.
