Thomas Scott West, Jr. (Tommy), age 90, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on November 28, 2022.  Tommy was born on January 13, 1932 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Velma (Ary) and Thomas S. West, Sr.

Tommy graduated from Texas A&M University with degrees in both geology and petroleum engineering. At Texas A&M, he was a letterman on the varsity tennis team. Upon graduation, he was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia where he played on the Army's tennis team. He was an avid tennis player throughout his life and played in many local, state, national and international tournaments.

Tommy was an independent oil and gas operator. He drilled and operated numerous wells in the Gulf Coast and Southern regions of Texas. He was a true Texas Wildcatter!

Over the years, he enjoyed being involved in the San Antonio Petroleum Club, TIPRO, SIPES, IPAA, Balcones Energy Library, Oak Hills Country Club, flying his Cessna 310, and traveling to Mexico.

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis C. West and Jerry A. West.

Tommy is survived by his daughters, Jeanette West Hannasch, Kathy West Gallaspy and husband, Greg, Terri Sue West, and Tiffany West Cheraif and husband, Ali; grandchildren Brianna Perkins, Sibyl Gallaspy Deckard (Lee), Donald Gallaspy, III (Eileen) and Husayn Cheraif.

Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
