Valentin (Val) Hermann Lenz, age 88 of Seguin, passed away on September 23, 2014. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Paul J. Zwarich officiating. Interment will follow in the San Geronimo Cemetery. Val was born on August 24, 1926 in Guadalupe County Texas to Valentin L. and Lydia (Seelk) Lenz. He was a proud graduate of the Seguin High School Class of 1944. He was a 75 year member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Kingsbury Lodge #887 AF & AM Masonic Lodge. Val enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing dominoes, nine pin bowling and grilling on the barbecue, and especially enjoyed all those activities along beside his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Arlene Jung Lenz; son, Randy Lenz and wife Carolyn; daughter, Donna Loflin and husband Ray; grandchildren, Matt Loflin and wife Angel, Kevin Lenz and wife Audrey, Sarah Sears and husband Sean, and Wesley Hart; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Schievelbein; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Fernon Schievelbein, Matt Loflin, Kevin Lenz, Wesley Hart, Sarah Sears and Kurt Schievelbein. Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 N.
