Velma H. Ewald, age 84 of Cibolo passed away on January 14, 2011. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, from 12 noon to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January, 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer United Church of Christ in Zuehl with Rev. Lee Zillmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Redeemer United Church of Christ Cemetery in Zuehl. Velma was born on October 15, 1926 in Karnes County to Fred and Laura Huth Jauer. She will be remembered as an LVN at Guadalupe Regional Hospital for 20 years before retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Roger Ewald. Survivors include her husband, Jesse Ewald; sons, Ron Nefford and wife Lisa, and Fred Nefford; sister, Penny Johnson and husband Jack; grandchildren, Travis Nefford and wife Lindsay, Tracey Nefford, Christopher Nefford and wife Kendra, Carrie Anne Porter, Andrea Nefford and fiance, Joe and Eric Page; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Arabella, Trinity, Tristan and Lauren; former daughter-in-law, Sherry Nefford-Esse; sisters-in-law, Valesca Meyer and Viola Krueger and husband Roland; brother-in-law, Fred Ewald and wife Glendora; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
