Vernon Ray (Nunnie) Caddell, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on March 25, 2011. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Odom officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. "Nunnie" was born on September 17, 1937 in Seguin to George Jackson and Tempey Henrietta Cowey Caddell. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He will be remembered as a rancher on the Weinert Ranch. He loved fishing, hunting and cheating on family card games. Time with his family provided many special memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Reylon Rockett and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his loving wife Vivian (Vickie) Caddell; sons, Russell Caddell and wife Susan, Ronald Ray Caddell and wife Dawn, Wesley Lind Caddell and wife Jessica and Derrick Jackson Caddell and wife Judy; daughters, Mary (Bunny) Warden and Sherry Caddell Rockett and husband Gordon; grandchildren, Jessica, Shay, and Kalli Caddell, Holden Caddell, Travis and Shelby Caddell, Justin and Maggie Caddell, Michael Meitzler, Travis Price, Michael Saldana, Sandy Taylor, Randy Gierisch, Lane and Haylea Rockett; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal Patsy Newcomb and Marie (Bug) Jones; sisters-in-law, Mary Ireton and husband Charles and Lydia Allen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters. His grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
