IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Victor James
Alto
June 8, 1940 – April 2, 2024
Victor James Alto (Vic) was born June 8, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2024.
Vic was preceded in his passing by his wife Lorraine, his parents Thomas Alto and Doris Toivola, and his sister Helen Alto.
Vic was born and raised in Michigan. He was active in the Boy Scouts and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Upon graduating from trade school, he moved to California for work and then moved back home to Michigan to start his family. Vic lived in many places but often returned to California and then Arizona where he had made lifelong friends.
After spending many years in Tucson, Vic and his wife Lorraine got their first taste of Texas when they built a new house on the coast in Aransas Pass. They moved a few times after that but finally settled permanently in beautiful Seguin.
Wherever Vic lived, he kept his classic car collection going. He was the epitome of a car enthusiast. For years, he bought, sold, and traded numerous cars but he favored classic Pontiacs. He loved to get together with friends and tinker in the garage all weekend.
When they finally retired, they enjoyed traveling and driving all over the country, usually in the current favorite Pontiac convertible, in search of great BBQ, good seafood, ice-cold beer, and fine wine. One of their favorite memories was a big trip to Ireland and Scotland with their friends.
The friends Vic met along the way have been amazing. From coast to coast, he never had a stopover where he wasn't welcomed in with the promise of a great meal and a cold drink. His Texas friends were by his side during his final moments.
Most importantly, Vic was dedicated to his church, First Baptist Church of Seguin. He was part of the "church clean-up crew" and was a good friend to many.
Vic is survived by his five children, Victoria (Kevin), Jayme (John), Debbie (Ron), Amy (Anthony), and Ed; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, JayCee, Daniel, Jared, Kyra, and Abbey; five great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Jameson, Alexis, Luke, and Raelynn; his sister; Joyce; and his nephew Mark.
Victor will be laid to rest in the Drummond Island cemetery in his birth state of Michigan.
