First Sergeant (retired) Victor H. Woods Jr., age 80 of Seguin, was received by His Father on February 2, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 from Noon to 6 p. m. and the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 10:45 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Victor Woods lived in Seguin since 1971 after he retired from the United States Army where he served 24 years with valor and honor. He was an Eagle Scout and attended Southwest Texas State University. First Sgt. Woods served in the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. He received Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts, Army Cross and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. First Sgt. Woods was Rifle Team Coach, ROTC Instructor, and Rifle Team Manager for Texas A&I. First Sgt. Woods was the U.S. Army, Infantry Instructor and Texas Military Institute's Rifle Team Coach. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor, Sr. and Lela Elizabeth Long Woods, sister, Lorraine Petty and brother, Bobby Woods. Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy J. Woods; sons, Roy Woods and wife Diana and Shay Timothy Woods and wife Nikki; daughter, Vickie Gescheidle and husband Randy, Lt Col (Ret); grandchildren, Austin, Hanna and Abbie Gescheidle, Shayle Woods, Lisa Ball and husband Darrell, James Woods and wife Carrie and Daniel Woods and wife Cheril; brother, Clifton Woods as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
