Obituary

Violet Elizabeth Odom, age 72, slipped the robes of her mortal coil to be in the arms of our lord and savior on June 24 2020.  Violet was born in Wurtzburg Germany on June 1 1948 to Rosa, and Woodrow Wilson Deck. Violet enjoyed being a Nurse for over 51 years. From working in the ER, and hospitals, to caring for the elderly at Nursing homes towards the end of her career as a Medicare, Medicade Officer.
Violet enjoyed the beauty in life with her flower arrangements, and the plants on her back porch. She loved shoping and antiquing, she loved and supported (tolerated) drag racing, because that's what her husband R.D. and son Ronny loved doing.  She enjoyed Going to car shows and competing with their 1967 Pontiac GTO.  Mostly she enjoyed time with her family, holidays and get togethers along with monthly Market Days with her sisters and brother at her booth in Wimberley TX, selling her beautiful arrangements she would make in her garage.  Violet was a caring compassionate soul who would bring a smile to anyone's face, along with kind words of support and advice.  She loved her animals.  They were family to her, she treated them as if they were her furry little children. She loved life and the lord. She donated to several Catholic charities among other non-profits to the betterment of humanity.

She is preceded in death by Her husband of 47 years R.D Odom, her father Woodrow Wilson Deck, mother Rosa Deck, sisters Rosie Garrison & Joanne Stewart, Poodle Scruffy, Cat fuzzy, Basset hound B.J., Poodle Coco and Cat Pricilla Louise.  She is survived by her loving sister, Gladys Irene Cummings, and husband, Mike; brother, Mickey Deck and wife, Cherry; son Reinhold (Ronny) DeWitt Odom Jr., and soul mate Jennifer Mayer; grandchildren, Alex, Anthony, Alisa, and Andrew; nephews, Doyle VanWinkle, Jason Holder, Nelson Range, Ryan Bolt,
Ken Sullivan, and Wess Cochran; nieces, Michelle Garrison Cochran, Laura Bolt, Peggy Sullivan, and Tristine Range; numerous great nephews and great nieces; and a couple of great- great nephews and great-great nieces; her adopted sons, Glen Casjens, and James (Jay) Plemmons along with Stacey Perkins and adopted daughter Mary Lee; best of friends, Judy Harding, and husband Mel, and Pat Sylvester and husband Butch; numerous friends and co-workers.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for this wonderful soul in the near future. Please watch for updates as the family will be planning soon.  The world is a dimmer place now that she has left, but we can rejoice, fore her halo shines the brightest light of all, and her beautiful wings wrap and comfort us as we shed tears of sadness. We love you Momma!  Memorial contributions may be made to any Catholic Charity of Choice or Animal Charity of Choice.
