Virginia Bading passed from her earthly life on August 19, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Virginia was born on August 29, 1923 to Herman and Linda Ludwig in the Freiheit Community in Comal County where she grew up. She attended Freiheit School and graduated from New Braunfels High School. On September 8, 1945 Virginia was married to Melvin Bading at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, Tx. The couple made their home on the Bading Farm in the Geronimo community where they lived until her death. She was a homemaker and farm wife who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and tending to her garden and chickens. While not actively engaged in the day to day operations of the farm, she was always sure meals were prepared, clothes was washed and available to provide needed taxi service to and from the fields. She was a long time, devoted member of Friedens Church where she was active in the Women's Guild and sang in the Church Choir for over 50 years. She was a life long member of the Frohsinn German singing club in Clear Springs and enjoyed Monday night singing practices and traveling to the Saengerfest celebrations held throughout central Texas. Virginia was a long time member of the Clear Springs Home Demonstration Club and looked forward to the monthly meetings. She was a 4-H Adult Leader and helped her sons with their 4-H projects as well as supporting their many school and church activities. In her later years, she enjoyed going out to eat on Friday night and Sunday lunch and she especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Edwin and Edith Bading, her brother Nelson Ludwig, her sister Cecyle and her husband Arlind Blome and her brother-in-law Edwin H. Bading. She is survived by her loving and caring husband Melvin Bading, her sons Roger Bading and wife Marlu of Geronimo, Russell and wife Charla of Geronimo, brother Howard Ludwig and wife Delrose of New Braunfels, sister-in-law Vernell Ludwig of San Antonio and sister-in-law Carolyn Bading of Geronimo. Also surviving are her grand¬children Ryan Bading and wife Sara of Corpus Christi, Kyle Bading and wife Megan of Geronimo, Michaella Meredith and husband J.R. of Buda and Justin Bading and wife Renee of Seguin, also great-grandchildren Reese Bading and Kylie and Kyle Meredith along with several nieces and nephews and numerous loving friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 21 from 11 to 7 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin with the family receiving guests from 5 until 7 pm. A service in celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 10:00 am Monday August 22 at Friedens Church in Geronimo with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Internment will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery. Members of her family will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to thank the staffs of Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation of Seguin and Hope Hospice for their loving care of Virginia.
