W. A. "Red" Massengale, age 88 of Seguin, passed away on July 29, 2011. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Mark McConkey officiating and Masonic Rites under the auspices of Davy Crockett Lodge #1225 A.F. & A.M. and Kingsbury Lodge #887 A. F. & A.M. Entombment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Antonio. "Red" was born on April 16, 1923 in Redwood Texas to Lee Roy and Minnie Lucille Drumm Massengale. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He owned Massengale Plumbing in San Antonio and later retired from San Antonio Armature Works. After moving to Seguin he was President of the Meadow Lake Homeowners Association for many years. He was active in both Masonic lodges and loved gardening and animals. "Red" is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Genevieve Massengale, his grandson Clovis O'Neal Jackson, his parents, sister, Barbara Jerkins and brothers, Lewis Massengale and Baby Massengale; survivors include his daughters, Patricia Callaway and husband Cliff, Cindy Van Horn and husband Russell and Shayln Massengale and fiancé Hector Lopez; Grandchildren, Deanne Peters, Melanie Heinz(Juan Trevino), Lauren Owens, (John), Kimberly Ludewig (Shaun), Hannah Rudisill, and Keegan Collins; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Shaw and husband Charles; brothers, Wayne Massengale and wife Bobbie and James Massengale and wife Jean Ann; numerous nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many friends. He will be remembered as a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Serving as pallbearers will be John Owens, Shaun Ludewig, Juan Trevino, Colby Evans, Keegan Collins, Justin Zamzow and Justin Pawelek. Because of his support of the Guadalupe County Humane Society, memorials in "Red's " memory may be given to the Guadalupe County Humane Society, P. O. Box 1593, Seguin, Texas, 78155-1593.
