Walter E. Bargfrede, Jr., age 76 of Seguin, passed away on July 11, 2009. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Monday, July 13, 2009 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church at Elm Creek with Pastor Anne Kolmeier officiating. Interment under the auspices of American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 will follow in the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek Cemetery. Walter was born on June 10, 1933 in Seguin, Texas to Walter, Sr. and Leona Woelke Bargfrede. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army. Walter will be remembered as having served in the Seguin Police Department, the Comal County Sheriff's Department and City of New Braunfels Police Department. He later served as Chief Deputy of the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Department. In 1984 he was appointed as the Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 where he served multiple terms until his retirement in 1998. His parents precede him in death as does his sister-in-law, Vivian Krause. Survivors include his wife of 56 years , Lillian Schumann Bargfrede; daughter, Carol Ronshausen and husband, Gary; son, Rodney Bargfrede and wife, Tammy; sister, Barbara Lampmann and husband, Walter; brother, Edward Bargfrede and wife, Betty; grandchildren Gary Wayne Ronshausen, Shawn Ronshausen, Caleb Bargfrede and Cameron Bargfrede; great-grandchildren, Landon Ronshausen and Peyton Ronshausen; brothers-in-law, William Schumann and Raymond Krause;several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Ronshausen, Caleb Bargfrede, Shawn Ronshausen, Cameron Bargfrede, Steven Krause and Jim Woelke.
