Walter A. Wieding, age 88 of Canyon Lake, passed away on November 3, 2012. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Anne Kolmeier and Seminarian Donna Lou Zipp officiating. Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran of Elm Creek Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post #245 in Seguin. Walter was born on November 30, 1923 in Three Rivers, Texas to Hugo T. and Marie Dieckow Wieding. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He will be remembered as an auto mechanic in the New Braunfels area. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek. He loved bird hunting and bowling and was a member of Comal Bowl. He is preceded in death by his son Eric Walter Wieding, his parents and his siblings, Viola Zamzow, Hugo "Boodie" Wieding, Reno Wieding and his son-in-law, Buddy L. Watson. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce J. Wieding; daughter, Diane J. Watson; son, Duane Wieding and wife Delores; grandchildren, Eric Watson and wife Jillian, Justin Watson, Jennifer Watson, Lauren Wieding and Kathryn Wieding; great-grandchild, Aidan Watson; siblings, Paula Mays, Marie Wieding and Herman Wieding; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as other family members and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek, 3305 Church Road, Seguin, Texas, 78155, Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut, New Braunfels, Texas, 78130 or to the charity of one's choice.
