Wayne L. McLeod, age 86 of Seguin, passed away on May 6, 2016. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim Kennedy and Dr. James Watson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Nockenut Cemetery in Nockenut Texas. Wayne was born on May 14, 1929 in DeFuniak Springs Florida to Eustus Terrell McLeod and Mabel Paul McLeod. Wayne came to Seguin in 1941. At the age of 16 he joined the Army. Some of the highlights of his career were, in 1947-1948 he served as bailiff for the Japanese War Crimes. In June of 1950, during the Korean Conflict, his knee was shattered and he played dead as the enemy passed through. He was the only survivor of his unit, after being missing in action for two weeks.Wayne had many tours abroad and earned many honors and medals, including The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star. While on furlough at home, he met the love of his life, Eddie Faye Johnston. They were married on November 13th, 1953 and were together until she passed in 2009. Wayne and Eddie Faye were both devout members of the Country Church in Marion. Wayne retired from the Army in 1967 after 21 years of service. Although he retired from the military, he never really stopped working. He was never one to sit still. Now he can finally rest. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Eddie Faye Johnston McLeod, his parents, his brothers, Willie McLeod, George Roy McLeod and Ronnie McLeod and his son-in-law, John Schwarzkopf. Survivors include his daughters, Jayme McLeod, Zoe Brown and husband James, Paula Kennedy and husband Jim, and Pamela McLeod; grandchildren, Christian McLeod, Brandon Miller and wife Rebecca, Ricky Miller, Erin Kennedy Turner and husband Tim, Jimmy Kennedy and wife Lisa, Estrea Brown, April Reyes and husband Mike, and Johnny Goldstein; great-grandchildren, Raleigh Lansford, Connor Roecker-Brown, Jet Turner, Zoey Miller, Lexi Kennedy, Chloe Miller, Jakob Flores, Michael Reyes, Lothar Reyes, and Journi Goldstein; sister, Sherry Lynn Jahns and husband Dennis; special family friends, Johnny and Veronica San Miguel and their daughters, Bianca and Vanessa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Jahns, Rick Ramirez, John Villalobos, Jim McGrath, B. J. Jeffers, Mike Moore, Rick Nagemueller and Larry Melchor.
