William Elder "Bill" Bishop, age 87 of Nixon, passed away on September 7, 2016. Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon with Rev. Marvin Miles officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church in Smiley. Bill was born on December 23, 1928 in Smiley Texas to Solomon Pierce and Ina (Mobley) Bishop. Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Gracie Lea Bishop and his sons, Barry Lee Bishop and William Earl Bishop. Survivors include his grandson, Larry Bishop; granddaughter, Robin Bishop; great-grandchildren, Peyton Bishop, Cesylea Knight, Shelbey and Logan Morris; siblings, Howard Bishop and wife, Frances, Viola Duncan, Virgil Bishop, Earl Bishop and wife, Linda and Irene Gaylord and husband Tommy; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends.
